Organics
KS Environmental can provide organic waste solutions for your business and even help educate your staff in the awareness of this important waste function.
We have worked in unison with the Melbourne Cricket Club, Prestige Property Services, Spotless Catering and Sustainability Victoria, in a food waste to compost program, an environmental initiative which directs compostable catering waste away from the traditional option of landfill.
MCC kitchen staff were trained to separate compostable food waste and place it into specifically labeled bins provided by KS Environmental. We designed, manufactured and installed hydraulic lifters to enable the heavy wheelie bins to be safely emptied into holding skips. KS Environmental transports the skips to a composting recycler where it is turned into garden compost.
This program has been operating since 2002 and has saved many tonnes of organic waste from being dumped as landfill.
Co-mingle
Aluminium cans, plastic and glass bottles and tin cans can now be segregated from other waste into a co-mingled recycling bin and transferred to a recycling facility.
This will help to:
- Reduce waste going to landfill
- Reduce greenhouse gases
E-waste
E-waste is the recycling of computers, fax machines, printers, scanners and photocopiers.
The benefits of recycling e-waste include reduction of waste to landfill, giving new life to used equipment, the opportunity to dismantle and recycle components and contributing to social environmental sustainability.
Cardboard
Every year 3.5 million tones of paper and cardboard is consumed in Australia (source www.RMIT.edu.au). Cardboard collected is reprocessed into cardboard and paper products. Recycling cardboard reduces the use of virgin resources and environmental impact.
KS Environmental can provide systems for small and large volumes, diverting waste from landfill and reducing waste management costs.
White Paper
White office paper is utilized to remanufacture white paper office products, toilet paper, serviettes, hand towels, etc.
Newsprint, phone books and glossy magazines are not acceptable as recycling for the above products however, may be used in the production of low grade packaging materials.
EPS – Polystyrene
Recycling EPS-Polystyrene and waxed cardboard boxes represents a major contribution to our environment, by diverting from landfill large volumes of materials that do not break down.
This service is ideally suited to market places, fruit stalls or shopping centers.
Construction and Demolition
Construction and demolition waste makes up 21% of all waste sent to landfill in Victoria. (Source: EcoRecycle Victoria: Solid Waste Stream 2001-2002).
Victorian State Government policy, “Towards Zero Waste” proposes to ban all construction and demolition waste from landfill. Now, recycling this waste is comparable with sending it to landfill.
KS Environmental offers a range of container services dependent on material types.
